FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers on how Tradie Cash works and what lenders look at.
What does Tradie Cash do?
We help Australian tradies and trade businesses find business finance: cash flow funding, equipment and tool finance, help with tax debt, options when credit isn't perfect, and property-secured loans. Vehicle finance has its own pathway.
Does enquiring affect my credit score?
No. There's no credit check when you first enquire. A credit check only comes up if you hear the options and decide to go ahead.
Will you send my details to lots of lenders?
No. We don't spray and pray. A real person reads your enquiry, works out what suits, and keeps your details with us rather than blasting them around.
How much can I borrow?
Property-secured business loans run from $20,000 to $5,000,000. Unsecured, cash flow and line-of-credit options for trading businesses typically run from $5,000 to $500,000, sized on turnover and bank statements.
Do I need to own property?
No. Property can widen your options and suit larger amounts, but unsecured and cash-flow options exist for tradies without it. Your answer on the form helps us point you the right way.
Can I get finance with bad credit?
Past credit issues are considered case by case. Lenders weigh how recent the problem is, whether it's resolved, your current banking and what security is available. We can't promise an approval, but we'll give you an honest read.
What about an ATO or BAS debt?
ATO debt is considered case by case too. Be upfront about the balance and any payment plan. Our tax debt section explains each type of debt and how business finance may or may not help.
What can I use the money for?
Business purposes only: wages, materials, tools and equipment, covering a gap while invoices are unpaid, a tax bill, a second crew, or buying into a business.
How do you handle utes and work vehicles?
Vehicle, ute, van, truck and trailer finance is handled by a specialist vehicle finance partner. Our vehicle finance section explains what to know, and the button on those pages takes you straight there.
How long does it take?
It depends on the structure and how quickly the paperwork arrives. Your specialist gives you a realistic timeframe on the first call. Accurate form answers and recent bank statements ready to go are what stop things stalling.
What documents will I need?
Usually your ABN or ACN, photo ID and recent business bank statements, and sometimes BAS, an asset list or a supplier quote. The Loan Readiness Checklist in the Toolbox has the full list.
Do you publish interest rates?
No. Every loan is priced on the individual situation, so any rate on a website is a guess. Your specialist explains the cost of finance for your own deal.
Is the Toolbox really free?
Yes. The six tools are free, instant and nothing you enter is stored or sent. They're built to help you size the problem before you ring anyone.
Who will call me?
A real person who talks to tradies about finance. Usually business hours, on the same or next business day, so keep your phone handy.
I'm a sole trader on a new ABN. Is there a point asking?
Yes. A young ABN limits some options, but it doesn't close the door. Work booked, a clear plan and clean statements all count. The startup and ABN pages explain what to expect.
How accurate should my form answers be?
As accurate as you can make them, especially the amount, state and whether you own property. That's what lets us match you properly the first time and keeps the process short.
